[East_County_Cork] Gillman's of County Cork

Posted

I am attempting to locate information on what little bit I know about my
Gillman ancestors – Here is the information I have been provided. I
have pretty much completed most of the work on the US side of the ocean,
but want to get information from the other side.

The patriarch of the family is Andrew Gillman, b. Ireland. He married
Artridge (probably a last name). They had six children: *Henry E
Gillman* b. 22 Jan 1809 in Ross, County Cork, Ireland; *Elizabeth
Gillman*, b. Ireland. She married Galvin, in Ireland; Mary Gillman,
b. Ireland. Married in Ireland to unknown, lived in England; *Margaret
Gillman* She married Rodley, in Ireland, b. Ireland; Martha Gillman,
b. Ireland. She married Ridley, in Ireland; and, Ann Gillman, b.
Ireland She married O’Donovan, in Ireland. I don’t know anything about
the siblings of Henry except what I have stated here.

My family line comes through* Henry E Gillman*. According to what I have
been told, he was born 22 Jan 1809 in Ross, County Cork, Ireland. He
died 10 Aug 1863 in Carigalene, County Cork, Ireland. He married *Ann
Curley* (although is has also been written Ann Thurley or listed as
HANNAH) in 1835, in Carigalene, County Cork, Ireland. Ann was born in
Carigalene, County Cork, Ireland, and died 13 Aug 1866 in Carigalene,
County Cork, Ireland.

I know they has one son Andrew Jackson Gillman b. 18 Jan 1839 in New
York City, New York. In find a HENRY & HANNAH GILMAN listed in the
1850 New York Census with an 11-year old son, ANDREW.

I don’t know when they immigrated to the US, there is no informaiton at
Castle Gardens and I don’t know when they returned to Ireland, where
they passed away.

Any assistance is appreciated.
