The Gillman family were prominent land owners near Dunmanway Co Cork and in the mid 1800s owned Oakmount Farm, Rossmore, Clonakilty which was later owned by my McCarthy ancestors for almost a century. More information and photos available if you think they may be relevant.

Yes, Carigalene is Carrigaline, a few miles south of Cork City, and Ross is no doubt Rosscarbery, about 40 miles south west of Cork City.

Looking for information on a family line that I don’t know much about.

Andrew Gillman married Artridge in Ireland. They parented six children
- Henry E (Jan 22, 1809); Elizabeth; Mary; Margaret; Martha; Ann.
Information on Henry’s birth was in Ross, County Cork. Henry married
Ann Curley in 1835 in Carigalene, County Cork, Ireland and she was born
and raised there. Information dictates that Henry passed away Aug 10,
1863 in Carigalene, County Cork and Ann passed Aug 13, 1866 in Carigalene.

Henry and Ann had a least one child born in New York City – Andrew
Jackson on Jan 18, 1839.

Sometime after Andrew was born – Henry and Ann returned to Ireland.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Dad – responding to your email on Friday at the office. I searched the
California Death Index and census information and found this information
for William Gillman.

According to the file I have for Gillman – William was born to Andrew
Jackson Gillman and Katherien Cullen Gillman. William married Grace
Higgins in 1902 and they had two boys Paul Alton Gillman (born August 14
1904 in New York and died May 11, 1948 in Los Angeles) and Victor
Lucius Gillman born in 1906.

1900 Census still has him living with his father.
!910 has him in Chicago married to Grace K[atherine] born in
Massachusetts for 10 years. She is 36 and he is 30. They have 4
children – Lillian G (D – 18) born in Conn. Merle K (D – 9) born in NY;
Paul A (S-5) born in NY and William N (S-4) born in Washington DC. I
have attached the Census Report.
1920 has him living in California – married to Katherine (50) They have
two children – Paul A (S-15) born in New York and Victor L (S-13) born
in Washington DC. William is a salesman. I have attached the 1920 Census
also.

I don’t find a 1930 census for them.

I found two WWI Draft Registration Cards and attached them for
you.Indicates he worked for Western Union as a telegraph operator on one
card and no employer on the other.

Probably should get to bed — It is midnight and have church in the
morning. I will pick this up again – but not getting any real good
leads after arriving in California.
